TEHRAN, Jan. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced on Wednesday that the bill calling for the prosecution of Zionist leaders put forward by the Judiciary will soon be presented to the Majlis.
He made the remarks at a conference held to discuss ways to support the oppressed people of Gaza in Tehran.Supporting the Palestinian people is essential for the Muslim world, the Middle East, and Iran’s security, Mottaki noted.
He said the “the triangle of aggression: Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barack and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni,” who are perfect examples of war criminals, must be prosecuted at international tribunals.
Mottaki noted that a “new Middle East” is now emerging and that the new phenomenon can not be explained with conventional methods.
The new generation of the Middle East wants to eradicate the major powers’ hegemony and any form of domination and they do not tolerate injustice, he explained.
The Iranian foreign minister condemned some of the recent decisions for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, saying that this must be undertaken by the proper authorities.
The fact that the Palestinian people are soon going to elect the next Palestinian Authority president means the current government can not take responsibility or receive donations made by many states to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
Mahmoud Abbas’ term as PA president expired on January 8.
Mottaki said the donations can not be given to the current Palestinian Authority government.
His remarks came after Olmert’s office issued a statement saying that Hamas should not be allowed to direct the reconstruction process in Gaza.
He said it is the legitimate right of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip to possess weapons since all resistance movements throughout the world are equipped and armed.
It is natural for a nation to acquire the means to defend itself in any possible way, he added.
The Western powers are in no position to say the resistance is not allowed to possess weapons when they had been competing to provide Israel with 300 tons of bombs, he said
